Hi all.  Some personal/professional news, as they say.  Today is my last day at MoCo360.  I’ll have more details about my next stop next month, which is still in local news, but this wraps up just under two years of covering Montgomery County politics and government, and roughly four-and-a-half years in Maryland as a local reporter.

First off, thank you to readers in this community who read our work, and support us financially.  Those emails and dollars help more than you can probably ever appreciate.

It’s tough to summarize my time here in Montgomery County, or to pick a single news story.  But this job has reaffirmed to me that local reporters – the ones on the ground, in their communities every day – do such vital work.  Especially in what can sometimes seem like the large shadows of national reporters in the nation’s capital.  Please don’t forget about us.

The staff here helped me grow immensely as a reporter, even as I still have a lot to learn.  I’ve said often on here that I am simply trying to keep up with the other reporters who work here – at first, Dan Schere and Caitlynn Peetz, and now, Akira Kyles, Apps Bichu, Em Espey, and Ginny Bixby.  That still is true.  Those six reporters deeply care about journalism.  They take their responsibilities seriously.  It was an honor to work alongside them.

To Montgomery County residents, thank you for your constructive criticism, support, and readership since May 2021.  I hope whatever little I did here provided some help for you in your day-to-day lives.  Please continue reading MoCo360, and all other local news sources who spend their time, day in and day out, keeping you informed.
