In what is sure to be one of the most important endorsements in the U.S. Senate race, Senator Chris Van Hollen has announced his support of Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks.  Van Hollen is one of the most influential politicians in Maryland and is especially respected in his home of Montgomery County, an important battleground jurisdiction.  The Alsobrooks campaign’s blast email is reprinted below.

We need Angela in the US Senate

I’m Chris Van Hollen, and I’m honored to serve Maryland in the United States Senate.

Today, I’m also proud to throw my support behind Angela Alsobrooks’s campaign to join me in the Senate.

If there’s one thing you need to know about Angela, it’s that she knows how to get results.

I have had a chance, over many years now, to witness firsthand the steady and stellar leadership of Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks — in both good times and in very tough times.

When you work with Angela, you get a clear sense of what drives her, what makes her get up every day; what her purpose is. And what moves her is her passionate commitment to address the real world challenges being faced by Maryland families every day — and her determination to do everything in her power to help them succeed.

She understands the conversations happening at kitchen tables across our state and our country. And when she sees a challenge, she doesn’t back away. She acts on the wise words of her great-grandmother – don’t sit on the sidelines; “go farther and do better.”

We can use more of that spirit in the United States Senate.

I truly believe that Angela is the best candidate in this race, and that she’ll fight on behalf of all Marylanders with the same integrity and can-do attitude that’s defined her career in public service thus far.

That’s why I’m proud to endorse Angela, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting her. Would you please consider showing her your support by donating to her campaign today?

Thank you for your commitment to our democracy and your engagement in our political process!
