Congressional District 6 candidate April McClain Delaney has replaced her campaign manager. This morning, her campaign sent me the following statement.

Last week, Isaac Rappoport transitioned to the role of Senior Advisor on the April McClain Delaney for Congress campaign and Nick London has been brought in to assume the day-to-day operations. Prior to this role, Nick served in the Moore-Miller Administration and previously as the Field Director on Governor Moore’s 2022 campaign. We are excited to welcome Nick to this team. With his experience managing GOTV and field operations in Maryland, this shows the campaign’s commitment to both running an aggressive ground game in the primary to win in May and to lay the groundwork for winning in November and keeping District 6 blue.

My take: It’s interesting that the new campaign manager has a background in field. We are less than six weeks out from election day and now is the time for field to be going full blast. Perhaps London was hired specifically for this need.
In any event, when a campaign is this close to election day, all of its components should be acting in concert: field, TV, mail, digital, comms and everything else. It’s hard for that to happen when the person at the top – the one person who is at the center of coordinating all of this activity – is replaced. It also comes in the context of a strong month by Delegate Joe Vogel, who may be emerging as Delaney’s strongest competitor.
That said, this may be overshadowed by the next round of campaign finance reports, which are due on April 15. If Delaney’s next report shows her blowing everyone else away, no one will be talking about her campaign manager.
