Council Member Andrew Friedson has announced endorsements from four State Senators for his campaign for county executive. They are Brian Feldman (D-15), Sara Love (D-16), Nancy King (D-39) and Craig Zucker (D-14). Feldman and Love have districts that overlap with Friedson’s Council District 1. King and Zucker represent parts of Upcounty, and in Zucker’s case, a large chunk of East County.
The roles of these Senators are noteworthy. Feldman chairs the Senate’s Education, Energy and the Environment Committee and has been one of Annapolis’s most respected legislators for many years. King is the Senate Majority Leader, a former chair of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee and was once a school board member. Love chaired the county House delegation’s Land Use, Transportation, and Public Safety Committee for four years when she was a delegate. And Zucker is renowned for bringing state capital money back to the county, a critical and rare role in the delegation.
Council Member Will Jawando, one of Friedson’s opponents, was joined by County Executive Marc Elrich, Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy and Council Members Kristin Mink and Laurie-Anne Sayles at his kickoff event last month.

Bethesda, MD — Montgomery County Councilmember and former Council President Andrew Friedson today announced the endorsement of four prominent Maryland State Senators: Brian Feldman, Nancy King, Sara Love, and Craig Zucker. These early endorsements from some of Montgomery County’s most prominent elected leaders representing the Upcounty, Downcounty, and East County, come less than a week after Friedson announced his candidacy.
“Our campaign is already gaining momentum and building support across every corner of Montgomery County. I am deeply honored to have the support of these respected leaders who have dedicated their careers to serving our community and delivering real results for Montgomery County families,” said Friedson. “Their continued partnership and trust is humbling and energizing as we work together to make our county more affordable, ensure educational outcomes for every student, and create new economic opportunities for every family.”
Senator Brian Feldman, Education, Energy, and the Environment Chair stated:
“I am proud to endorse Andrew Friedson for County Executive, a proven leader and trusted partner who has consistently delivered for our community to create more affordable housing, grow an innovative economy, and provide tens of millions of dollars in dedicated funding to finance environmental stability projects.”
Senator Nancy King, Majority Leader shared:

He is the right leader for our County at this defining moment and I am excited to endorse him to be our next County Executive. ”
Senator Sara Love, District 16 commented:
“Andrew Friedson has my enthusiastic endorsement for County Executive. He has been a responsive, effective, and trusted partner for our community and is the best choice at a time of deep division to bring people together to make Montgomery County more affordable, competitive, and sustainable and to stand up for our federal workers, contractors, and values.”
Senator Craig Zucker, Capital Budget Subcommittee Chair added:
“Andrew has been a good friend and trusted partner. Time after time he has delivered for District 14 and for Montgomery County. As County Executive he will be a tremendous asset to the Montgomery County Senate Delegation in Annapolis, ensuring our County gets its fair share, protecting taxpayer dollars, investing in education, and helping to make things more affordable”
These endorsements reflect Friedson’s broad base of support based on his proven record of pragmatic leadership. As County Executive, Friedson pledges to continue working closely with state and local leaders to deliver on the issues that matter most to residents, including affordability, economic opportunity, and protecting the values that define Montgomery County.
