I’m happy that the study by the Office of Legislative Oversight (OLO) about how the county has changed finished first for the month.  OLO does great work.  Anyone who wants to learn about the county should read their reports, which form a nice cumulative account of various issues in the county’s history.  Go forth and educate yourselves!

Now to the primal scream by former Planning Board Chair Gus Bauman.  This one ricocheted around MoCo’s activist and insider communities, with some agreeing with him, others disagreeing and others asking, “Is he right?”  My take was a bit more gentle than Gus’s, but look folks – when people who have been active in the county for 50 years like Gus have something to say, you should pay attention.

And you can do more than that – you can do something about it.  You can, should and must VOTE.  Next year’s county elections will see an open county executive seat, three open council at-large seats and two open district council seats.  Those seats together will play a huge part in determining the future direction of the county, especially the executive position.  Your job as an interested voter – and why else would you be here on this site? – is to do your homework on these candidates and pick the ones you believe best match the direction you would like to see the county follow.  Don’t just complain – VOTE!

On to October!
