The top two stories of October are actually components of the same story: the rise of the progressive left in MoCo politics.

Montgomery County has been dominated by Democrats forever, and by national standards, they have usually been quite progressive.  Imagine a political environment as a football field.  On one side of the 50 yard line, the field is red.  On the other side, the field is blue.  As the field progresses to each end zone, it becomes deep red on one side and deep blue on the other.  Traditionally, plays in MoCo politics are run between the 5 and 15 yard lines on the blue side of the field.  But fueled by reaction to President Donald Trump and the national trend leftwards in the Democratic Party, those plays are now being called between the blue 10 yard line and the deep blue end zone.

Now, progressives are going for a touchdown.

Regardless of whether you favor or oppose Team Deep Blue, the game is on and the implications for our politics and our economy are profound.  Ultimately, you the voters will make the call next June.

On to November!
