Minutes ago, Council Member Will Jawando, who is running for U.S. Senate, sent out the fundraising text below. The text illustrates his campaign strategy as it simultaneously goes left on the filibuster and the Supreme Court, goes after “millionaires” and “the rich” (that’s you, David Trone) and disavows backing from developers (he’s talking about you, Angela Alsobrooks). Jawando is arguably the most prominent progressive in Montgomery County. Now he plans to win a U.S. Senate seat by trying to be the most prominent progressive in Maryland.

Hi, it’s Will Jawando, candidate for Senate here in Maryland. Had a question for you:
What are you looking for in a progressive?
Maybe it’s a fighter for hard-working families. Or someone who’s willing to speak out against a broken system that lets establishment politicians block meaningful change when we need it most.
Well here’s the truth: I’m the only real progressive in this race. And I’ll tell you why:
❌ I support ending the filibuster.
⚖️ I will fight to balance the Supreme Court.
💵 I’m not backed by millionaires and developers.
The rich already have plenty of representation in the Senate. It’s about time we had a voice who will speak for working people.
