Part One summarized my methodology of consulting my source network on who they believe will most likely be the next county executive. Part Two featured a few general comments from sources. Now let’s get to the people my sources consider most likely to be the next county executive.
All comments come from my sources and not from me. Yes, I have opinions about all of these folks, but I am going to save them for future posts.

Rich and bored.
He’s not going to retire.
MCGEO and the other Unions would be pissed and oppose it but he has the money for unlimited spending and tides seem to be rolling in that kind of direction (business). PS… a Total Wine in MoCo would be fantastic!

If he comes back, name recognition and $ put him as a contender. The downside is he’s been invisible for the past two years and not sure if he is even local.
Third time is the charm!
While I think David Blair would have the best shot at winning, especially if Marc Elrich was NOT term-limited (I know the hypothetical is about Elrich not being able to run again), I would guess he wouldn’t want to spend that kind of money for a third time.
I believe that if David runs a similar campaign to 2022, he wins going away. That said, I don’t believe he has the interest. Also, several recent races have shown us that having large self-funded campaigns gets you in the game, but doesn’t mean you win.
