By Adam Pagnucco.

Council Member Will Jawando, who is serving in his second term as an at-large council member, has established a public financing campaign account to run for county executive.

An extract from Jawando’s campaign account filing with identifying information redacted.

Jawando’s run for executive has been expected for a long time.  Aside from his two successful council races, he has run unsuccessfully for District 20 delegate (in 2014), U.S. House in District 8 (in 2016) and U.S. Senate (in 2023).  My sources have previously identified him as one of the three most likely people to be the next county executive (along with Council Members Andrew Friedson and Evan Glass, the latter of whom is already running).  Jawando previously hinted at a run on the Politics Hour with Kojo Nnamdi but his formation of a campaign account makes it official.

Last night, Jawando followed up with this mass email promoting a kickoff event on May 21.

This leaves me with two questions.

First, when will Friedson get in?

And second, who else will run?
