By Adam Pagnucco.

Eight years ago, four candidates won their first Democratic council primary: Gabe Albornoz, Evan Glass and Will Jawando (running at-large) and Andrew Friedson (running in District 1).  Each of them quickly made their mark in office, and as I watched them grow, I thought: one of these fellows is probably going to be the next county executive.

That was not to be for Albornoz, who resigned from office last year and is now (again) the county’s recreation director.  What we are seeing now seems predestined: three talented candidates, all with die-hard supporters and all with a credible chance to win.  The prize to be claimed by the victor is a county with mounting problems in bad need of direction.  What will that direction be?

That’s up to you, the voters.  Forget about the money, the ads, the mudslinging, the interest groups and the assorted craziness of a fierce election.  Below are the walk pieces created by the three who remain from eight years ago.  Take a look at them.  Hear from the candidates themselves with no filters and no surrogates.  It’s just you, them and the voting booth.

Which direction will you choose?  The future of Montgomery County depends on it – a future that will be decided today.

Evan Glass

Will Jawando

Andrew Friedson
