CHEVY CHASE – Kyle Lierman’s campaign for Delegate got underway today at a local house party in Chevy Chase. Over 60 supporters and interested voters were in attendance to hear Mr. Lierman’s plan for action.
Mr. Lierman, a Democrat competing for the vacancy formerly held by Bill Bronrott who moved to the Department of Transportation, called for new ideas and bold action in Annapolis. “Governor O’Malley has done a great job under challenging circumstances, but he needs more leadership to get things done in Annapolis. I will work night and day to organize around progressive ideals to keep Montgomery County and Maryland at the forefront of the best places to live in America,” Mr. Lierman said.
“This campaign is about bringing a fresh perspective and new ideas to our local communities. I will work with our leaders to facilitate investment in our future, our education system, our clean energy economy and our transportation infrastructure,” Mr. Lierman stated.
Supporters, including Montgomery County Councilmember Duchy Trachtenberg (At-Large), identified Mr. Lierman’s history of activism for progressive campaigns and causes as reasons he will make an effective legislator. “Kyle volunteered for Gov. O’Malley in 2006, organized volunteers throughout the country, including Montgomery County, for President Obama’s campaign and recently returned from a volunteer trip to Haiti. He represents the kind action-oriented leadership from our younger generation we need to tackle the challenges of the 21st century,” Ms. Trachtenberg said. “Kyle’s thoughtful manner and generous heart speak to a policy debate long over-due in Annapolis and just the kind of leadership that will bring about meaningful political change,” Ms. Trachtenberg continued.
The event, hosted by Lucy Freeman and Susan Byrnes, was an informational meet-and-greet brunch open to the public.
