Reviled Washington football team owner Dan Snyder has owned the club now known as the Commanders for 24 seasons, almost as long as the 25-season tenure of Jack Kent Cooke and his son, John Kent Cooke.  Snyder has long been despised by most Washington-area football fans and his sins are far too numerous for this column.  (A 20-part series would be inadequate to chronicle them!)  Let’s instead compare the Snyder era to the Cooke era by the numbers.

The numbers don’t lie.  Snyder’s stewardship of the team really is execrable when compared to Cooke, who was once regarded as one of pro sports’ greatest owners.  In every metric that counts – titles, wins, playoffs, stability at head coach and quarterback and more – Cooke’s performance far outclasses Snyder.  Aside from the lack of championships, maybe the most devastating stat for Snyder is his two playoff wins in 24 seasons.  Let’s hope that Snyder’s ownership is a miserable memory by the start of next season.

The tale of the tape appears below.
