The Committee for Better Government, which is advocating for a ballot question reducing term limits for the county executive from three to two, has released an ad on YouTube.  Following is the embedded video and a transcript.

Transcript:

Presidents, governors, county executives and mayors.  What do many of them have in common?

Most are limited to two terms in office.

It’s time Montgomery County joins the fold and passes Question A to bring two term limits for the office of county executive.

Two term limits ensure that new voices and new ideas are part of our democracy and that we all have a say in our future.

That’s why two term limits are supported by most Americans as a good governance policy.

Now you have the chance.  Vote yes for Question A.

Check out the production values of this ad.  It was obviously not produced by term limits leader Reardon Sullivan playing around with video apps in his basement.  Also note the lack of reference to current County Executive Marc Elrich.

The big question here is whether the committee will be able to raise enough money to get this ad on television.

The committee is already running ads on social media.  The screenshot below shows one of them.

In the meantime, the committee opposing term limits appears to have almost no money.  And while the Democratic sample ballot includes opposition to term limits, it has not been mailed to voters as of this writing.

The clock is ticking.  Term limits opponents must get moving now.
