The Affordable Maryland PAC, a Super PAC financed by the real estate industry, has been running negative TV ads against Council Member and executive candidate Will Jawando. Now the Super PAC is mailing in support of four candidates for county council.
The beneficiaries of the Super PAC’s mail are at-large candidates Scott Goldberg, Karla Silvestre and Jim McNulty and District 3 candidate Jud Ashman. The expenditure ($70,838) is roughly equivalent to a countywide mailer to a universe of regular Democratic primary voters. I don’t know if there is more than one mailer in this package.
A screenshot showing the expenditure appears below.

This Super PAC is one of five independent entities I have seen playing in MoCo’s primary election. The others include the Working Families Party, the CASA in Action PAC, the Progressive Maryland Liberation Alliance PAC and the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS MD IEC. I would not be surprised if the combined spending of all of these groups eventually exceeds $2 million, with most of it coming from the Affordable Maryland PAC.
Update: A copy of the mailer is reprinted below. The version with Ashman is targeted to Council District 3.
