Council Member Will Jawando, who is the Democratic nominee for county executive, released a video minutes ago thanking constituents for wishing him well after his heart attack on Saturday.  Below is the embedded video from Facebook and a transcript of his remarks.

Hey everyone.  It’s Will.  Now that I’m home, I just wanted to reach out quickly and say thank you.  Thank you for all of the prayers, the cards, the flowers, the texts.  It’s meant the world to me and the family.

Most importantly, I want to thank God for getting me through this and allowing me to still be here and to serve and to be with you and to be with my family.

I’m thankful to the doctors at George Washington University Hospital who acted quickly to do a successful surgery and place a stent in my heart and restore blood flow.

I’m thankful to my friends that I was playing basketball with on Saturday when I suffered the heart attack who also acted quickly to get me to the hospital.

I have a message for everyone out there.  Take care of yourself.  Don’t ignore the warning signs, especially us guys, but women too.  I’m in shape, I work out a lot, but things can happen.

And so I’m just thankful.

I look forward to seeing you all in the community soon.  And I’ll be back on track before you know it.  God bless you.
